Biography
Early Years
Akira started out the son of a local, low level politician in Kagoshima, Japan and often got in trouble for 'tarnishing' his father's reputation via petty mischief. In high school, he got a job cleaning cars for a local autoshop, unaware that it was a 'family owned business' and a safe house for the local yakuza. Akira proved that he knew when to keep his mouth shut and was a hard worker, ingraciating him to the local boss. Eventually, he was promoted to full time tough guy.
Ambition
Akira had a knack for underworld management and a tast for the finer things a lucrative career could net. It wasn't long before he started climbing higher and higher in Kyuushuu's underworld. Unlike a lot of crimelords, Akira placed an exceptionally high value on mutually beneficial arrangements for every level of the organizations he was involved in, including grunts. He strongly believed that looking out for and protecting your weakest or most disposable men transformed them into agents who were legitimately and deeply loyal. This ensured that while he didn't always have the numbers of his competition, he did have men who were committed to his success even at intense personal risk.
While generally merciful (he was reported to let men working for him 'quit' permanently if they had a good enough reason, and held to his word that their ties could be severed without puishment) Akira could also be ruthlessly decisive. When a equal sized operation tried to get throw Akira's under the bus to gain points with a much larger family, Akira broke into the patriarch's house personally to scalp him. While Akira took the role of "patriarch" a little more literally than most, it usually worked in his favor, leaving him surrounded by loyal men who believed in what he was doing.
Legacy
By the mid 80s, Akira had been playing the real estate market hard and fast and came out
